Sic Bo

Sic Bo is an ancient Chinese dice game based on chance. Players bet on the outcome of the roll of three dice using a table of options.

The table may look intimidating at first for anyone new to Sic Bo, but you’ll soon find it easy to understand.

The table displays every single outcome that the dice can produce, as well as its payout odds. The beauty of this game, particularly for beginners, is that no real skill is involved.

Odds and house edge?

The house edge of bets placed on Sic Bo range between 2.78% to 18.98%. This all depends on the placement of a player’s bets on the board.

Best Sic Bo Strategies

There are a few strategies that players can use when playing Sic Bo, but there is no single strategy that can guarantee a win every single time.

  • A low-risk strategy that would keep you playing for a longer time would be to select bets with an even chance of winning, such as betting on Big/Small.
  • If you’re looking for a riskier strategy but one which will give you the best return, you could consider hedging your bets by betting on Big/Small and a specific combination. For example, you could bet on Big/Small and any Triple. Should you lose on the triple, you might win on Big/Small. Another example would be to bet on Big/Small and a specific combination.

These strategies will depend on your budget, so think about this and consider trying Sic Bo for free before sitting at a real money table.

Sic Bo online vs land-based casinos

This game can be played both online and in land-based casinos. In (offline) casinos, the dice are rolled inside an electric dice shaker. Online Sic Bo can be played against RNG (a computer) or, for a more immersive experience, Live with a human dealer.

SicBo’s table explained

The Sic Bo table can be confusing, so below is a guide to understanding how to read the table.

Single number bets

These bets are for 1 to 6 coming up on the roll of the three dice.

As an example, if you place $5 on the number 1 and any of the three dice rolls a 1, you win $5. The odds are 1:1 on one dice, 2:1 on two dice, and 3:1 on three dice.

Combination bets

On this row, players bet on the chance of two specific numbers appearing on the three dice. For example, a 1 and 2 are rolled. The payout odds are higher because it’s less likely to occur.

Total bets

A player will bet on the total sum of the numbers appearing on all three dice (rolling three 5s for 15), for example.

Specific double and triple bets

You can bet on a specific double or triple. Your selected number needs to appear on two of the three dice for a double—each double wins 2 to 1. For a triple, your selected number must appear on all three dice.

Any triple

You can bet on any triple in the top middle of the table. You’ll win if any of the three dice come up with the same three numbers shown.

Small and Big bets

If you’ve played Roulette before, this one might sound familiar because it’s similar to betting on red or black. Here, you can bet on whether the total sum of the three dice numbers will be from 4 to 1 (Small) or 11-17 (Big). If any triple appears, you’ll lose. For example, three 2’s are rolled.
